The Spinning Wheel is based on a mother's dream. It started as a small needlecraft shop where they sold cross-stitch and macrame supplies. Classes were held in house to teach people how to utilize the products they sold in the store. Soon they realized that the products they could offer were very desirable in the market place and that is when daughter Julia joined and created this dynamic mother/daughter team. Together they started creating and selling needlecraft books sold all over in such shops as: Wal*Mart and Ben Franklin. For many years, Julia & Yvonne also wrote a column for Leisure Arts magazine regarding needle crafting.

In the 80's, Yvonne and Julia branched out as a team making dolls. For many years they designed and handmade dolls and traveled all over to sell them retail as well as in the wholesale market place. As our business grew, Yvonne and Julia are thrilled for various national companies. But the need to grow was apparent. So Yvonne and Julia, with the help of a close friend made, the decision to pick up some talented designers and folk artists to offer the gift market wonderful, primitive folk art at affordable prices. And the Spinning Wheel was born. The need in the market now is for affordable, quality items and we feel we now have that to offer.
